Experience

I’m a graduate of the West Virginia University School of Journalism, with a specialty in business communication and a minor in commerce. I’ve managed proposal teams ranging from small internal groups to those that include several corporate divisions and subcontractor organizations. In addition to proposals, I’ve written, designed and produced a range of marketing materials and collateral. My professional experience includes:

  • Senior Proposal Manager for Weston Solutions (Carlsbad, California), which specializes in water- and air-quality monitoring and assessment; dredged material and sediment characterization (for ocean disposal or reuse); stormwater runoff monitoring and laboratory analysis; wetlands habitat restoration; and other environmental initiatives.
  • Senior Proposal Director for Tetra Tech, an architectural and engineering company based in Pasadena, California. Tetra Tech specializes in fresh- and waste-water infrastructure and environmental remediation projects for municipal and state governments, as well as military installations around the world.
  • Senior Proposal Manager for Wyle, an aerospace, IT, scientific research, and independent testing company based in El Segundo, California. Wyle specializes in maintenance and support projects for military bases and aviation programs; IT support for high-level government agencies; and launch and aeromedical support and scientific research for NASA and commercial space exploration programs.
  • Proposal Manager for Hewlett-Packard in Alpharetta, Georgia (formerly the Compaq Global Services). This operation provides business-critical multivendor service and support for major commercial and government enterprises around the world.
  • General Manager of Marketec SolViento S.A. in Quito, Ecuador. The company’s mission was to solicit funding and then conduct feasibility studies for solar, wind, and other nonconventional renewable energy projects.
  • Communications Manager for the Westinghouse Combustion Turbine Systems Division in Concordville, Pennsylvania. This unit designed and manufactured utility-scale gas turbine generating systems, including high-efficiency combined cycle power plants. It also conducted research into clean coal, ultra-low emissions combustion systems, and innovative technologies such as fluid bed power generation and compressed air energy storage.
  • Business Development Proposal Specialist for the Westinghouse Advanced Power Systems Business Unit in Pittsburgh. This organization included the Advanced Energy Systems Division, Advanced Reactors Division, Advanced Coal Conversion Department, and Fusion Power Systems Department.
